Westchester Chamber Music Society
Celebrating 75 Years of Classical Music Excellence
A Commitment to Community and Accessibility
Our Story & Mission
For 75 years, WCMS has brought to Westchester top-tier artists, such as the renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma; the Amerigo Trio with the violinist Glenn Dicterow; the Emerson, Brentano, and Kalichstein ensembles; and award-winning young talent, such as the Dover and the Ulysses String Quartets.
Our mission is to provide live, world-class chamber music concerts that are accessible and affordable to Westchester audiences. By doing so we aim to support chamber-music performers, inspire young musicians, and help to sustain the local arts community.
We believe that classical music is a shared cultural treasure and strive to engage diverse audiences by emphasizing accessibility and preserving tradition while embracing distinguished new artists, composers, and musical styles.
Our Approach
Our concerts are presented in-person and live streamed simultaneously to remote listeners with a high-fidelity recording available for 48 hours after the performance.
Members receive tickets to all five season concerts or can choose a flexible 3-concert membership. Membership also includes a number of free guest tickets. Single concert tickets are available as well, and first-time members and attendees enjoy a special discount. Students always attend for free.
Membership and ticket prices are kept low to honor our commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Since this revenue does not cover expenses, we depend on volunteers and donations by our generous supporters.
WCMS Inclusion and Equity Policy
The Westchester Chamber Music Society is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all--an environment where all individuals, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities feel welcome, have equal access to programs, provide a range of perspectives from the community, and are treated fairly.
We recognize that chamber music has a rich and diverse heritage. We commit to representing a range of cultures, traditions, and styles in our programming. This includes historic and contemporary music from various backgrounds.
Our venue and parking are accessible; and we recognize that live-streaming our concerts at very reasonable pricing allows us to reach and serve a broader range of community members throughout Westchester and beyond, including older adults and individuals with disabilities who may not attend in person.
